The concept is for the viewer to reflect upon their own interpretation… but I’ll let you in on what I see when I stare at this piece…
Reflection is a practice of elevation; you look upon the past, learn from mistakes and learn to appreciate the small things that may have gone overlooked.
The gold embodies the word ‘Power’. The pensive girl is surrounded by textured gold acrylic to portray the endless strength emanating from her mind. Wrapped in a towel, I loved the slight vulnerability shown… and I love that it does not mean she is weak.
Wavy cuts of African wax print fabric tie into the way I feel when I allow my mind to roam. I think about my roots, how connected I feel and how far I have come.
The vibrant green is nature. She feels so grounded that she is at one with the earth, a symbol that is recurrent in my art.
